Healthy ‘Vegemite’

 

Love it or hate it, vegemite is in almost every Australia pantry. But unfortunately the original isn’t the best for us. So here is a healthier version that we believe is pretty close to the taste of the original… BUT BETTER!

We sell it on ‘The Aussie’ at the farmers markets and people love it.

We used to sell it by the jar but believe that you can make it yourself.

Ingredients 

1/2 cup of black tahini 

4 tbsp tamari

3 tbsp of nutritional yeast 

1 tbsp of apple cider 

1/2 cup of boiling water 

Method 

  1. In a large bowl, add everything except the water. 

  2. Using a whisk to mix together and slowly add in the boiling water. 

  3. Mix until all combined. 

  4. Place in a jar in the fridge. Lasts about a month.
